Learning Japanese

I realized that this year I’ll have been studying Russian for five years…long enough that I feel it’s not just something I study, it’s part of my life.  So it’s time to take on a new challenge, that being Japanese. This is a page that I’m going to use to collect online resources for myself, and I’m making them public so other Japanese language learners might benefit.

I’m using the Pimsleur audio method initially, but not soley.  I’m also learning the Kana and reading about the grammar.  But not in a “cramming” way — just trying to keep it fun.  I feel that keeping it fun is rule #1 in learning anything.

Here is a great chart for learning the Hiragana characters.  Hiragana is probably the first of the Japanese characters to learn.  Then Katakana and finally Kanji, because if you want to learn Kanji, you’ll be working on it the rest of your life.  :-)
